Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I got caught for petty theft and have to go to court in aug my question is the place that I got caught at sent me a letter stateing that I have to pay them a fine of 300 do I have to pay them or do I just wait till my court date?

Let your attorney handle it. Do not pay the civil demand.
I agree with Ms Hofmeister. When you go to court it is a criminal matter. The state is charging you with violating a law. The letter from the company is a civil request for reimbursement of the company's loss and their expense collecting the claim.
You must be careful what you say on line. You don't want to admit to violating any law. The district attorney may be able to use any admissions against you. You need to get an attorney right away.
