Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I was charged with California HS 11357(b). It states in there that the maximum fee is no more than $100, however the judge said I have to pay $450 but then dropped it to $275 which still exceeds the maximum charge ..can he charge me that much?

That fine includes more than the maximum fine. It also includes administrative fees and penalty assessments.
