Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I have not been charged with anything yet, but I do expect this case will end up with me going a front of the judge. A week ago I have been involved in a high volume conversation between myself and a caltrain conductor who lost his balance and almost fell on me. I had to defend my laptop and pushed the falling conductor in opposite direction. The conductor got upset, threatened me with assault and threw me out of the train. That was 7 days ago, and today I took the same train and the sheriff entered the train and asked me to leave the train. After few min of questioning he advised me to get an attorney as he will send the case to the district attorney and issue a warrant for my arrest. The sheriff was asking me very provocative questions right on the platform and suggested that I come up with witnesses to support my story. Should I hire an attorney now or wait for the charge to come through?

Why are you telling some sheriff a "story"? Don't you know to keep your mouth shut??!? He was probably blowing smoke. If he wanted to he could have arrested you on the spot or written you a citation. I would avoid this particular train.
