Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I have been charged with felony assault against a police officer. I waived my right to a speedy trial. My prelim was scheduled twice and both times none of the officers involved have shown up. Can my attorney ask for the charges to be dropped or dismissed? Both times we went to court my attorney did nothing. Should he be arguing something in regards to getting this matter removed from the courts? It almost seems to me like my lawyer wants this matter to go to trial so he can make more money.

Not when you keep waiving your right to a speedy trial. If you don't want to waive it, then don't agree to it.
