You will be arraigned i.e. asked to enter a plea of guilty or not guilty. If you have a private attorney, you will likely be offered a plea bargain. The deal will probably be worse if you have a public defender. Don't represent yourself.

When you go to court for your arraignment you will be asked to enter a plea. Your plea must be not guilty. You never, ever plead guilty unless a lawyer, private or public, has carefully reviewed your case and advised you that it would be in your interest to take some kind of a deal and plead guilty.
Get a lawyer who, among other things, will explain the process to you. If you cannot afford private counsel, a public defender will be appointed for you. Representing yourself is always a bad idea.
Misdemeanor PC 148(a) is not the end of the world but you should do all you can to avoid having it on your record. If the cops just made up the whole story you should not let them get away with it.
Hope this helps. Feel free to contact my office if you desire additional information and advice about your specific case.

The first thing that will happen is you will be given a court date for an arraignment. At the court appearance you will be asked to enter a plea of guilty or not guilty. You will also be asked if you have an attorney or if you would like the Public defender appointed to you, if you can not afford an attorney.
You need an attorney and should not enter any type of plea until you speak with an attorney who represents your bests interests. You probably have already been questioned by the police, if you have not, do not speak with them without having your attorney present. If you have make sure you tell your attorney everything you told the police and all the circumstances under which you said it. Do not under any circumstances consider representing yourself, you can not do it properly.
If you are looking for an attorney please feel free to contact my office. Good luck
