Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

i was charged with 245 a 1, i pled not guilty. Last week was my preliminary hearing at which time the victim and witness were not present. Only two police officers showed up and got on stand. The d.a. asked the judge to add 664/518 pc and 459 pc. as new charges. My attorney told me that those additional charges are a scare tactic so that i take the deal. what? do you think and what do these crimes carry inregards to punnishment?
