Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I was charged with possession of vicodin and 3 sleeping pills that for both I have prescriptions for. When I was arrested I could not prove that the pills were prescribed to me because I had scratched out my name on the pill bottle. Now I have court in a week, what do I need to provide to prove to the court that I possessed these pills legally? Thank you.

I would have your prescribing physician prepare a declaration under penalty of perjury that he or she prescribed that medication for you. This declaration should include detailed information that sets forth that you are the patient, and the fact that you physician is duly licensed by the State of California. (I'm assuming that it is.) It may also be a good idea to locate any original prescription documentation, and obtain a declaration from your pharmacist. I'm assuming that you have not yet been arraigned, and that you were released with a ticket telling you the time and place to appear.
