Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Charged with a 487 a.m.

First time offense, no priors, clean record? What are my chances of getting it lowered to a petty theft, infraction, dismissal, or diversion? Is there even a way to get a 487 lowered to a diversion?

I think you mean a 487 p.c.( grand theft ) That being what we are talking about, the result will depend on the negotiations between your attorney and the prosecutor. I hope you have a highly qualified attorney who will spend many hours on your behalf. If you plead to a crime of theft, either petty or grand, the rest of your life will be seriously impacted....FOREVER. You only get 1 chance to get the best result....so get the best attorney....NOT THE CHEAPEST. You will pay for a cheap lawyer, the rest of your life. I hope i have made myself clear. I wish you the best..David Wallin
