Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Can I check my criminal record online? I am afraid the websites might be a fraud.
I am in the process of dismissing my misdemeanor petty theft.
I was not given probation, but had to pay fees and take a class and return to court to confirm i took the class.
After the class, I did not have to go to court because a DA would represent me after I have taken the class. On the Sacramento Court website, I checked my case and it says "DISMISSED" on the Dispo Code of the Charge Dispositions. Does this mean my case is already dismissed and that I don't need to file a petition for dismissal?

The Sacramento Superior Court website is not a fraud. You can find all counties' websites through the official California Courts website at www.courtinfo.ca.gov
It sounds like you may have been in a diversion program, where a conviction is not actually entered if you do what the court requires. Without a review of the actual case file, it is hard to tell what happened.
I would suggest going to the clerk's office and asking to see your file. It is a public record that anyone can see. If you can't figure out what happened by looking at the file, the clerk can probably tell you.
