Check Writing
If you were to write a check in the amount of $4,000 or more at what point does it become a felony? Is there a $ amount that needs to be exceeded to be a felony?

Re: Check Writing
I did a quick check of the penal code and did not find a code section stating the amount that separates a felony from a misdemeanor. However, in thefts cases the dividing amount in $400. Intentionally writing a check when there are insufficient funds to cover the check could be considered to be theft by trick or device.

Re: Check Writing
I assume you are wrting a check illegally or you would not be asking. I do not know the exact felony threshhold, but I think $4,000 would probably be a felony
