If I checked my boyfriends email without his his permission what legal charges could I possible face and who could press charges

It is important to remember that civilians do not press charges. They report crimes to law enforcement and law enforcement forwards reports to prosecutors when they believe a crime has occurred. The District Attorney, or his designated agent files charges with the court. At no time in the process does a civilian get to have a person charged with a crime.
With this being said, if a victim or witness is uncooperative the prosecutor is less likely to aggressively prosecute a person.
