Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
citation correction
I recieved a citation, misdemeanor, that I planned to contestbecause it is not accurate (false information regarding my identity). The citation has my correct information on it. I provided my ca. drivers lisc. when requested to. Anyways~ I now recieved in the mail a notice of correction stating the officer is making a correction~ I now have to appear for ''Booking''. What does this mean? What caused the changes? I have never dealt with this stuff before. should I get a lawyer? I dont understand any of this. your advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you

Re: citation correction
Yes, get a lawyer. Booking is the equivalent of being arrested. Your picture and fingerprints are taken. You may or may not receive a court date when you get booked. Remember, you have a right to remain silent and you should assert that right until you have a lawyer representing you.

Re: citation correction
You should get a lawyer. This issue sounds too complicated for anyone to answer here. "Booking" means they want to take your fingerprints and mugshot. You will have to go down to the police station and present yourself for them to photograph and print you. When you hire a lawyer, make sure you give him/her all the documentation you have.
Re: citation correction
Hire Counsel before this "booking" date...sounds like the officer is searching for evidence of the crime.
