Clearing The Record

Is it possible to clear your criminal record of crimes committed as an adult, in particular the crime of petty theft?

Hello, if the petty theft were a misdemeanor it could be expunged pursuant to penal code 1203.4. If it a petty theft with a prior charged as a felony there could be some problems. Expungemnt does not "clear up" your record, but your record will reflect that the case has been dismissed. Call us at 1-800-327-4652 for a free consultation.

Adult convictions can be expunged pursuant to Penal Code section 1203.4, which is not exactly "clearing" but is better than doing nothing. The effects of expungement are sort of complex, and it's probably better if you speak to a criminal lawyer who is experienced in post-conviction remedies.
