Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Client accusing of fraud filed police report

This is the stuff us mortgage brokers have to deal with all the time..lol i have a client who i collected $2900 upfront for a loan i was doing for her..however we did a massive amount of credit reoair totaling 1300 and an appraisal totaling 575.00. Which i have invoices for. She cancelled her loan after all of the services were completed and leaving me with the 2900 and HER unpaid bills. Is this Fraud?

Re: Client accusing of fraud filed police report

Probably not. Fraud requires an intent to deceive at the time of the agreement, but your customer most likely just changed her mind later. There is probably no crime here at all.

You still have remedies, but not the remedies for fraud. If you had your customer sign a well-drafted contract, you should have a strong breach of contract case against her.
