Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Community Service

If you need to complete community service, how do you start the process? Is there a form to prove you've completed your hours? Do I have to go to a specific place to do my hours? What qualifies as communtiy service?

Re: Community Service

When a defendant enters his or her plea or is otherwise given a sentence that involves community service, he or she is ordered to go to the Probation Department or some other office that handles the enrollment function, there is usually an administrative fee involved. Normally you are supposed to report to this office immediately after sentencing, if you do not do this you are in violation of probation. If it is the case that you were sentenced, but you forgot to visit Probation, you had best go there immediately and get things sorted out.
