Re: conterfiate

In the eyes of the law, what matters is whether you knew what you were doing, not whether you also knew that doing it was illegal.

Re: conterfiate

It totally depends on the crime. Some crimes require a specific mental intent to do wrong. Others do not. So tell us what the crime is and I'll answer your question. If your reference "conterfiate" is intended to mean "counterfeit", as in bogus money. Again, it depends.

If you possessed and passed a counterfeit bill without knowing it was counterfeit, you have committed no crime whatever. If you printed a few bills and "Didn't know" it was illegal, you're out of luck.

Re: conterfiate

You need to do what everyone accused of a crime needs to do - get a lawyer. Your lack of knowledge of the illegality of your act might exonerate you but it is going to take a lawyer to make your case for you.

I recommend you call around to get an idea of who might be right for you. If you cannot afford private counsel, a public defender will be appointed for you. Do not attempt to defend yourself and do not talk to anyone unless it is your own lawyer.
