Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Counterfeiting

is it legal to copy half of a 100 dollar bill and leave the other side blank for filming? If not i want to make realistic looking 100's for a low budget movie is there any legal way to do this? Also is there a lesser offense if i proceed and there is no intent on distributing the money what do you think the charge would be?

Make 'em realistic enough, and you can make a high-budget movie. (Just kidding.)

You can legally print your funny money at, I think the law is 150% of actual size -- and filmgoers won't notice. Or there must be companies that make movie prop money. Google for companies that sell magic tricks and/or movie props.
