Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
court date
Found out i have a warrant. I was never notified. Ifound out through my soacial worker. It is a felony warrant. I was never given a court date. Is there a way to set one without being taken into custody. I know I will be taken in if I go to the coiunty clerk to set a date. I am currently in school and started a new job.

Re: court date
Your best option is to retain a private lawyer to handle this whole matter and possibly resolve it all prior to any court appearance by you. It looks like you have a good excuse if the warrant was never sent or sent to a wrong address.
Your second option is to show up in the morning in the courtroom where the warrant was issued and seek assistance from the public defender's office. Bring with you any documentation which would tend to support your claim you knew nothing about the warrant.
You do not have any other options really. If you keep running away, the warrant with catch up with you, inevitably, sooner or later.

The warrant will get you sooner or later...if able, hire counsel to go with you to the Court...if not put the matter on calendar and ask the public defender to help you out...bring proof of school, employment etc...with you. DJM
