Re: court

Criminal court proceedings are open to the public. However, witnesses are normally excluded from the courtroom during trial except when they are on the stand. If today's proceeding is a trial and if you and your relatives are to be witnesses, you may end up waiting in the hallway most of the time.

Since we don't know the nature of today's proceeding, there is no way to tell you what the result will be.

Re: court

Generally court proceedings, both hearings and trials, are open to the public. There are situations when trials are blacked out or closed to the public but that is rare. As to family members attending a hearing or a trial, I generally think it is a good idea unless the family member is involved in the case or is a witness or potential witness. If a family member is a possible witness they should not attend and if they are going to be an actual witness they will be asked to step outside the court. Good Luck

Re: court

Court hearings are open to the public and the family. You should get the answers you want just by attending. This does not mean you will know everything about the case. The details are between your sister and her lawyer.

The best thing you can do for your sister is to try to get her the best legal representation you can.

Feel free to contact my office for additional non-binding consultation.
