Re: court terms

Your question really does not provide enough information to give you an accurate answer. Furthermore I practice law in California only, and have no idea of the terms used outside of California.

Generally I have heard the term "status conference" or "case management conference" in a civil proceeding. A status hearing in a civil context is exactly what is says a conference or a hearing in order to inform the court and all the parties what the status of the case is and if it is moving along properly.

In a criminal context and used by itself I would only be guessing at what it might mean. I suppose one could have a status hearing regarding issues such as bail, or probation but usually there are other terms used with it in order to describe what type of status is to be ascertained. Generally when something is being continued the term used is for "further proceedings." Good Luck
