Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Criminal Charges
When a person is arrested and then charged for a crime, is all of this information available on a background check, without a person being convicted of the crime? I thought we were innocent until proven guilty. Also, if charges are dropped, will these charges still remain on ones record for life?

Re: Criminal Charges
Innocent until proven guilty is a philosophy that does not alway ring true. However, arrest records are different from convictions. While you can be charged, go to trial and win an acquittal, there will always be a record of the arrest.
