Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

is there a way to get a criminal court case transfered to the current place of residence? I can not make it down to Southern California where the charges are placed...and I live in northern California. I recently had a warrant served as a result of failure to appear, due to lack of funds to appear 400 miles away...Is there anything I can do to have the case transferred up here to not miss any work and also handle my obligations?

Not really. If you committed a crime in a county in Southern California, you are going to have to defend the case in Southern California. Changes of venue in criminal cases are not the same as changes of venue in civil cases. The grounds for changing venue in a criminal case involve getting a fair trial, and the convenience of witnesses. Since it sounds like you are out, either on your own recognizance or bail, I suggest you get an attorney to appear for you, unless it is a felony, in which case you will have to be at the court hearings in addition to your attorney.
