How can a felony be reduced to a misdemeamor without a lawyer?

Re: criminal defense
Dangerous question. The actual answer is: Go to the criminal clerk's office and obtain the 1203 expungement form. Ask for the reduction per PC 17(b). But be careful. That simple act can have huge long-term ramifications. You'd be wise to consult an attorney about whether it's in your best interests to do that. Many valuable remedies (including full Certificate of Rehabilitation and Pardon) are not available for convictions after they've been reduced to misdemeanors. Really, it's important to know the collateral consequences of that ostensibly beneficial and otherwise relatively easy move.
My consultations are free if you'd like some specific advice.
