how long does an inmate have before it is to late to file an appeal?

Normally filing a notice of appeal is the last thing your criminal defense lawyer does for you. But if it hasn't been done, in general it's 30 days after judgment for misdemeanors and 60 for felonies. Don't wait.

Assuming it's a felony the rule is an inflexible 60 days from the judgment.
