Is there any legal way to avoid as a
witness on a criminal case ?

You mean to avoid being called as a witness? If you get a subpoena, it is a court order to appear as instructed.
If you have further concerns, you can contact the party that subpoenaed you and see if your testimony is absolutely mandatory or if they are willing to release you from the subpoena.
