Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

My daughter has been detained/arrested at the Calexico border a couple of days ago. I received a brief phone call from her, telling me to come down there to pick up her personal items. Nobody will tell me what she is being charged with. The only thing I was told is that she will be transported to a Federal Facility in San Diego, upon availability. How long can they hold her? Why can't I speak to her? How can I help her?
