A readiness hearing is a hearing where both sides get to exchange discovery and notify each other whether or not they are ready for trial. Both sides go over their calendars and try to agree on a date for trial.
This is also a last opportunity to resolve the case

Readiness Hearing or Trial Readiness Hearing/Conference (TRC) ... also called Pre-Trial Hearing or just "Pre-Trial" in some courts, is set for the purpose of discovery and to see if the case can be resolved prior to trial, i.e. without trial. There often are several TRC's set. If a case cannot be resolved in some mutual manner at that stage, it is then set for trial. Good luck!
