Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Detective harrasment Can they do this?

I have a friend who was an aquaintance of a girl who was murdered a few yrs. back. still A Det. has questioned her several times over the yrs. my frnd has had no reason to reason not to talk to her so she has met with her a few times. dose the Det. have the right to continue to harass, threaten, and accuse her? The Det. threatens her with parole violations if she refuses to come in or says she will go tell her boss. Can she leagally do that if she has'nt been charged or even named a suspect? She says sometime soon she HAS to take a poly test. How is she supposed to respond? should she obtain leagle rep? Dose she have any rights as far as what & how she is involved? How far can the Det. go as far as harrassing her without charging her? What should she do? Is there any way to find out if she should be worried? what type of lawyer is needed, and what exactly would this fall under? She never thought that by talking to her she would be harassed there is nothing more to tell, so what is next dose the Det. have the right to bug just cause she is on parole???

She should definitely seek the advice of a criminal lawyer. She has many rights which appear to be violated by this bullying detective. Her failure to cooperate with this cop should not be the basis of a violation of her parole - she is breaking no laws. It sounds like this cop is taking advantage of her because he can and she doesn't know how to prevent the abuse. If she'd like to talk to me, I'd be happy to give her a free consultation.
