Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
What is Disposition Code SP4
My brother has been sentenced to 2 years in State Prison. LASD.org show the Disposition of his case as SP4. I'm assuming that SP means State Prison, what does the 4 mean? Also, is it true that if an inmate works in prison their sentence is reduced ''day for day''? In other owords sentence is reduced one day for every day worked? Is there ever early release from prison?

Nonviolent inmates can indeed get day for day last time I checked, and with current overcrowding conditions who knows? If he is classified as a no risk prisoner he could get placed in a fire camp or other low security facility.
