Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

DMV registration problem

My car was purchased in California. I moved to Arizona to work

and failed to register my car there. i did not drive my car, but I

stated that it was registered in Arizona when it wasn't. I kept

California insurance during the entire time. I am now living in

California again, but I can not register my car since they need

Arizona registration records that don't exist.

Is there anyhting i can do to get this matter settled without

having to deal with court or perjury charges?

Re: DMV registration problem

Simply go to DMV, and pay the license and penalites for allowing your Califonria plates to expire for a year. The next time notify California DMV that you've taken the car off the road. And there'll be no penalty.

I've read Victor Hobbs' response, but I'm not sure it's that simple. The language from your inquiry that I find to be a potential problem is pasted above. There MAY BE some exposure to criminal charges here. I recommend that you have a consultation with a criminal lawyer experienced in DMV matters. Most criminal lawyers give free consultations. I do. If you'd like a free consultation, don't hesitate to call me. Steve Mandell 310 393 0639
