Drug possesion
A friend was arrested and being charged with drug possesion and intent to sell. They offered him 90 days jail time and 180 community service and he plead not guilty, he is due back in court soon and wants to plead guilty because he thinks he will get a shorter sentence. Should he even though his intent was not to sell?

He needs to consult an attorney regarding his case. This discussion should include the following:
1. What the da has to prove to get a conviction;
2. The defenses that are available to you;
3. The maximum sentence that could be imposed in this case. He needs to weigh the maximum sentence as opposed to the plea bargan sentence. Also he needs to consider whether he could have the charges reduced to a misdemeanor after he has completed probation.
