Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Embesselment

What is the length of time you can be prosecuted for embesselment? In Feb 2005 I was terminated for embesellment of $25,000. The company contacted me in October 2006 for re-embursement. At that time I did not have a job. I have not heard from them since. What should I do?

You should contact an attorney prior to any discussions witht he Company. If you were working in Oregon for the company it is important that you contact an Oregon attorney.

Re: Embesselment

It is unclear whether the alleged criminal conduct occurred in CA or OR. However, the same advise would probably apply in either state. Do not admit that you owe the money, but do contact an attorney immediately. You may be able to negotiate a settlement without admitting criminal liability. Do not discuss your case with anyone, except and attorney.
