There is no law that requires you to report the conviction unless you're an attorney. Then it has to be reported to the State Bar. There may be some other professions that I'm not familiar with that have the same requirement, possibly a police officer. Check the B & P Code.

Otherwise look to your employment contract. It may be a contractual requirement.

Most people do not have to report misdemeanor convictions to their employers. Your employer may have inserted terms in your employment contract that requires notification, but in most cases notification is not required. There are exception. Many licensed professions do require notification and law enforcement personnel are also required to notify.
