Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

My employer suspects me and two other employees of embezzlement. At least one of these coworkers has admitted his wrongdoings. My employer says that if we admit to our wrongdoings, we MAY not face legal action. What should I do? Show up tomorrow with the money and apologize? Are they likely to press charges, and if they do, what will likely happen? I am 17 years old.

Thank you

I would advise that you say nothing and consult an Attorney. Legal actions can mean both Civil (which the employer can control) and Criminal (which are really out of his control - it is up to the District Attorney to bring charges).

I would say it is the Criminal action that can have the most long lasting affects on you life. Even though you return the money, you can still be Prosecuted. While the D.A. will never know about your case if your employer does not bring it to their attention, on the other hand, they cannot convict you if there is no evidence.

Don't convict yourself!!!
