Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Enter your question here...my past landlord from 2009 turned power back on illegally after we moved out. he then used utilities for 2 months. now utility co is holding me responsible. for $1700 and shut off my current service. I need help.

I suggest contacting the power company, with a well written letter, and pointing out that you were no longer occupying the property at the time, and that someone else turned it on after you moved out. I hope that you have proof, such as the fact that you requested the power turned off when you moved (and the power company has record of this) and you have proof of living at a new address.
If push comes to shove, and you get sued, or cannot get power at your new residence, you may have to pay, and then sue the landlord over it.
