Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

My ex-boyfriend emptied a joint saving account, and is now using that money to blackmail me. He did not put any money into the savings account, only I did (from my two jobs). He is saying that if I want the money back I need to meet him at therapy tonight. I have no desire to go to therapy with him. I am in the process of getting a restraining order against him. He is physically violent. The police have been called a total of 4 times during our relationship because of his violence. The last time was the past Friday when we broke up. He struck me several times leaving bruises and cuts. The police helped me clear my belongings from him place. The next day he showed up at my place and refused to give me my keys back. When the cops showed up, he had already ran away (but left his vehicle behind). I am already in the process of getting a restraining order, but I want to know what I can do about his attempt to blackmail me, and how can I get my money back?

You have posted in criminal law. This category is for questions concerning criminal prosecutions and defense in California. You should repost to a civil category. My general advice would be to consult an attorney to consider filing a civil lawsuit.
