Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
what can i expect?
My son picked up his friend and brought him back to the house and when he returned home their were sheriffs with their guns drawn. the kid he picked up did something but now my son is an accessory to whatever he did.
So now he has an accessory charge on him and of course there was drugs found on him
my son is already in a program for the first offense.
My question is what do you think is jail time for him?

I have to agree with my colleague Mr. Hoffman's somewhat harsh statements. When it comes to legal advisement, more details give you a much better answer.
I hope this helps. If you do have other questions, feel that you need legal representation, or want legal advice, please feel free to email me directly at [email protected]. It's my pleasure to help in any way that I can. Thank you.

Re: what can i expect?
That depends upon many facts you have not provided. All you have said is that your son is accused of being an accessory to some unknown crime, that he police found an unknown quantity of an unknown drug on him, and that he was in some unspecified program for an unknown first offense. It's not possible to answer your question with so little information.
What crime was your son supposedly an accessory to? Aside from the fact that he gave his friend a ride, what evidence do they have of his guilt? Did he make any statements to the police or prosecutor? If so, what did he say? Did he just volunteer a statement or was he questioned? If the latter, had he been Mirandized beforehand? If he was questioned but not Mirdandized, what were the circumstances under which he was questioned? What kind of drug(s) did your son have, and in what quantity? What was his first offense? What kind of program was he in? Was he making satisfactory progress until the incident you describe?
