Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

extortion / retaliation

How do I ensure I am within my right in taking legal action against someone now. I was not able to prior to now I had to allow/put up with their criminal activity out of fear that they would not pay me money they owed which would ultimately result in detrimental life altering circumstance such as me losing everything I own approx 2 million in property. and out of fear of harm coming to me and my family. Once they told me they wouldn't pay me and left the state, I no longer have these fears and I have not asked for a dime as I am deferring the debt related issue to the courts. Is it ok now to report their other criminal activity to the police and agencies being defrauded?

Re: extortion / retaliation

You can complain to the police or whomever, but if you want someone to pay you money you'll have to take them to court.
