Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Extradition from CA to TX
I was named as a witness in
California, and a background check
showed that I had a fugitive from
justice (probation violation) warrant
from Texas. I was picked up and held
for extradition. After the hearing to
decide to waive my extradition (I
did), I was released the next day and
told Texas had no interest in
extraditing.
What does this mean? How should I
go about taking care of my warrant?
Will local law enforcement pick me up
only if I am caught commiting a
crime, or will they actively seek me
out if Texas decides to extradite at a
later date? Thank you.

Re: Extradition from CA to TX
This will come up over and over for as long as the warrant (I assume it is a felony) from Texas is in the system. Why not hire a Texas attorney and see what it will take to clear up this case? Every traffic stop will likely show the warrant. How many times do you want to go through that?
As to your other question, I think it unlikely Texas will INITIATE a drive to bring you back when they passed you over when you were trussed up on a platter ready for them, don't you?
