Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
If my exwife is driving a car I bought for our daughter, and she commits a crime, can I be legally responsible?

I am tempted to say that this is California and anything can happen, but it's not clear that you could be charged for crimes of another.

Anyone can be charged with anything but convicting you is another matter. You can not be convicted unless you either conspired with her to commit the crime or aided and abetted her to commit the crime. In either case you would have to have the specific intent to commit the crime.
