Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
facing a possible FTA
I'm 18 and i might be facing my first time in jail, I currently have 1 FTA which as been dismissed and i'm looking at a nother possible FTA verry soon. I don't know how much time i have, or a defence i can use to get out of being imprisoned. any suggestions, or if you know the standard time for it that would be great. the infraction was speeding 15 mph over the limit, it as a 70 mph zone and i was doing 85. Any help would be greatly appreciated

You will not go to jail if you fess up to the failure to appear. Although there may be a warrant out for your FTA, if get your case on calendar, the judge will most likely dismiss the FTA right there if you plead to the original violation.

Jail for 85 in a 70? No way, unless there's something else you're not telling us. If you missed your court date, go to court any day at 8:30 SHARP and ask the clerk to put your case up. Then ask the judge if you can go to traffic school. Probably your insurance won't even go up.
