Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Failed to appear at jail on turn in date...
My boyfriend was supposed to turn himself in today to serve 6 months for possession for sales.
- Will he have to serve more time when he either gets caught or turns himself in?
He's also already on felony probation.
So about how long would it take for his probation officer to be contacted about him not appearing to serve his sentence? And what will happen?

Re: Failed to appear at jail on turn in date...
If he is supposed to turn himself in today, he better do it right away. If he doesn't surrender on the date as ordered by the court or appear in court to request more time, a warrant for his arrest will issue. He will be considered a fugitive, he will be subject to a probation violation as well as additional charges. He will likely receive more time.
