Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Failure to appear probation vioaltion

i served 31 day of a 9 month sentence in 1996, I got 3 years probation in which I only had to cheack in by mail I for felony robbery. I found out that I had a failure to appear violation in 1999. i did not get any kind of notification that I can recall my address has not changed I have no priors or offenses since then. The Officer of the day said if I just went to the court house I probably would not be arrested, but I can not really afford a lawyer. I can prove that all payments have been paid I just was not aware of any notice to appear.

Go to the court house and ask the clerk to put your case on calendar. This will not result in the warrant being recalled in many cases. You would be subject to arrest until the court date. At your first court appearance request the appointment of an attorney.
