Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Falsely accused of writing bad checks
I recieved a letter from the district attorney that states ''failure to comply...''. I apparently was sent an initial letter, which I never recieved, that said I wrote bad checks and I now need to sign up for an education class. My account has been closed for a while now and my checkbook long gone so what makes them so sure I'm writing bad checks? I've never recieved anything from a merchant that said I owe nor from my bank that said I bounced check(s). This is the first I've heard about it. What defense(s) do I have?

Re: Falsely accused of writing bad checks
Several possible defenses come to mind, but it is not possible to really determine what is the best defense without more information.
