Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Can a family and law attorney handle a criminal case
2 Answers from Attorneys
If you mean "Are family law attorneys allowed to handle criminal cases," then the answer is yes. If you mean "Are family law attorneys qualified to handle criminal cases," then the answer is that some are and some aren't. It depends on the attorney's background and the complexity of the case.
Note that calling someone a "family law attorney" means only that his or her practice includes a fair amount of family law. It does not mean they practice only in that one area, or that they lack expertise in other areas.
