Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

my father has on his record a charge for child abuse that he was not even aware of in 1993 what happen was that i ditched school and he found out so i went to my counselor and she contacted the police cuz i told her i was scarred he was gonna harm me they came and took me away to a half way home i went back home 2 days later and that was the end of that we just found out last week that these charges were on his record he was never arrested or contacted do we have a way of erasing that from his record or can we do something legally

Perhaps something can be done, but I need to know more. WHAT was on his record? Did it show an arrest? That he was charged by the prosecutor? That he was convicted? I don't understand how he could be unaware of any of those events. Please be specific what shows on the record. How did he find out this was "on his record?" I don't know what YOU mean by "charges", but to lawyers it means an accusation of a crime. What crime? Was there a Penal Code section mentioned? Give us more info here, so I can tell you what might be done to clean up his "record" or if it even needs to.
