Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Federal Case

I have a federal indicment;2 charges-cashing postal money order(s), possession of 16 access devices (c/cards). My criminal history level is 6, and my offense level is 10. Normally this type of case would be thrown from the courts, but based on the factor of my criminal history- my lawyer says prison is the outcome.

My attorney wants me to enter a plea of guilty on Monday 02/24/06. I feel like I am being railroaded. I am not secure in the fact that my attorney is on my side. I feel with him being appointed by the court (Public Pretender) this is just another case of closing the deal. He has told me after entering a plea- he will keep me out for another year so I can finish school. I don't really feel like that is the truth.

My question is this; Is it possible to find a lawyer who is willing to take on this case? I have no money...I work but for $10.00 per hour. I don't want to go to prison. I want to continue to move forward in my life. I want an attorney who makes me feel like I am getting propewr representation.

Re: Federal Case

Completely missing from your post is anything by way of a defense other than, I'm not that big of a thief, so I shouldn't have to go to prison. Your previous involvement with the criminal justice system does not appear to have taught you anything.
