Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Federal Criminal Conviction-Sieze the house?
My Father was recently convicted in Federal court. The government had ordered that his home (California) be forfeited to satisfy the monetary part of the conviction. Someone told me that there was a law that prevented the government from selling the house and only allowed them to get their money out of it if it was sold. This sounds way too nice for the government....am I right?

Federal Asset Forfeiture laws can be very harsh. I would consult a lawyer who is familiar with federal forfeitures. Feel free to contact me for a free consultation.
