if an atf agent is asked if he or she is a cop do they have to answer even if they are involved in an undercover bust?

Undercover involves lying to the people that the undercover officer is trying to get evidence against. This is an accepted practice. And legally defensible as necessary to get evidence to successfully legally prosecute criminal activity.
