felon burglary

I was givin a 3yr suspended senates in norwalk court for burglary.the juge told me he thout i was just at the wrong plase at the wrong time.and if i did good with probation he would try and do somthing about the felony.its been 6 to7 yrs and I have never been in troble sence.can I go back and get this felony reduced.and would the jugeges satment be in court records to help in this case.thank you for your time.

Yes, if you finished probation and never violated, you can go back and get the conviction set aside. This requires a motion to the court in writing. You will probably need an attorney to do this for you.

Once the court has set the conviction aside, you will be released from the other penalties, such as loss of the right to vote, etc. Also, you will be able to answer "no" on SOME employment applications, credit applications, etc. when asked if you have ever been convicted of a crime. If you are applying to any government agency (State, County, City) for any a job or a license, or if you are contracting with the state lottery, you will still have to disclose the conviction.

However, the conviction will still affect your sentencing if you are convicted of another crime, and if it is a "strike" it will still be a "strike" under the three-strikes law.
